PLANS FOR WIND FARM NEAR SANCTON GO ON DISPLAY
Proposals for a wind power project at Sancton Hill Farm are to be presented to the public at a marquee exhibition outside the Methodist Church in Sancton Village, on Friday 1st and Saturday 2nd August. The exhibition, organised by renewable energy provider Cornwall Light & Power, will run from 12 noon until 8pm on both days.
Cornwall Light & Power is keen to get local residents’ views of their plans. The company proposes five turbines which would collectively provide enough clean, emissions-free electricity to power around 5,700 homes and would contribute 10 megawatts (MW) towards Yorkshire and Humber’s target of 708MW of installed renewable energy capacity by 2010. Currently, the region has an installed capacity of around 168MW.
Bob Morgan, Project Development Manager at Cornwall Light & Power, said: “Our plans for renewable energy at Sancton Hill Farm are at an early stage but we are now eager to present our proposals to the local public.
“We look forward to meeting local residents during the two day exhibition to hear their views and explain our proposals in more detail, ahead of us preparing a planning application for East Riding of Yorkshire Council.”
