Summary of site

Cornwall Light and Power is applying for planning permission to install two wind turbines on land at French Farm, near Thorney. The application is for an alteration to an existing planning consent that was granted in 1993, and will effectively see more homes benefiting from clean electricity than this original consent allows for.

The proposed scheme will consist of two turbines each rated at between 2000kW (2MW) and 2500kW (2.5MW) and in identical locations to those already consented. The new turbines would produce a minimum of five times more power and hence five times the CO² saving. The turbines would have a 100 metre tip height and 60 metre tower height.

Figure for numbers of households potentially served based on Government figures for average household consumption. Future changes in the power generation mix and fuel costs in the UK mean that the CO2 figure may change over time.
