Summary of site

Cornwall Light and Power (CLP) is currently looking at the potential to place wind turbines on land at Langthwaite Farm near Millom in Cumbria.

Electricity generated by the turbines would go into the local distribution network and could be sufficient to power over 11,000 households in the surrounding communities each year.¹

¹ Based on an example scheme consisting of six 3 megawatt turbines. Figure for numbers of households potentially served based on Government figures for average household consumption

What's happening?

Initial plans for Langthwaite were presented to the public at exhibitions on the following dates:
Friday 5 February (2pm-8pm) - Millom Network Centre
Saturday 6 February (10am-2pm) - Kirksanton Village Hall

Two possible layouts for the site were presented, one for six 3 megawatt, 125m turbines and one for eight 2 megawatt, 100m turbines. We requested feedback from local people on these schemes and will be analysing the responses in the coming weeks. If any local residents have further questions or thoughts on the two proposals they are very welcome to contact the development team at any time.
